Scania Metrolink coaches delivered to SRS

Scania Commercial Vehicles India delivered the first Scania Metrolink Coaches to SRS Travels in Bangalore. SRS Travels located in Karnataka, is
a leading travel firm that is known for its regularity and on-time performance.
Scania Metrolink range was launched
in February 2013. These are multi-purpose coaches for medium and long distance
travel on the Indian market. The coaches reflect the Scania virtues such as
robust design, maximum passenger and driver safety. The buses also deliver good
fuel economy and are trouble-free over long distances.The buses also come with an emergency
doors which are a boon to passengers in case of emergency.
Among those who were present at
the occasion for the delivery of the coaches included Anders Grundströmer, Managing Director, Scania India and Senior Vice President, Scania
Group, Ramalinga Reddy, Minister of Transport
& Minister in Charge- Bangalore Urban, Government of Karnataka and K.T.
Rajashekhara, Proprietor, SRS Travels, Bangalore.
Grundströmer noted that his
company was delighted to
formally handover its first Scania Metrolink Coaches to SRS Travels. “The
advanced technology and design of these coaches introduces a new level of
performance on the Indian market. It offers significant fuel savings and thereby
CO2 reductions, as well as outstanding comfort and safety for the
passengers,” he said.
Scania has been
represented in the Indian market since 2007, when a partnership was initiated
with Larsen & Toubro (L&T). L&T has successfully established
Scania’s trucks and services and has developed a close partnership with
customers in the off-road segment. L&T currently operates about 10 Scania
service workshops at various mining sites in the country and continues to be a
trusted partner for off road including mining trucks.
In 2011, Scania
established the company Scania Commercial Vehicles India Pvt. Ltd. in order to
boost its presence through sales to additional segments of the Indian
commercial vehicle market. Since then Scania has launched a range of on-road
haulage truck models specially adapted for the Indian market - the R 500 6x4,
the G 460 6x4 and the P 410 6x2 and also the off-road P 410 8x4 mining tipper. The
company inaugurated its Industrial Facility in Narasapura in Oct 2013. The
facility came up with an investment of Rs. 250 crore.
